Coaching for Creative Leadership in Life & Work

Master the personal and professional skills to create breakthrough results for yourself, your team, your community, and the world

“Never forget. This very moment, we can change our lives. There never was a moment, and never will be, when we are without the power to alter our destiny.”

- Steven Pressfield, The War of Art

Break Through to New Possibilities

Coaching is the art of asking powerful questions to inspire and activate the change we seek.

We reflect on the stories, mindsets, habits, motivations, emotions, and the internal forces & external conditions that make up who we are and the world we inhabit.

By learning and mastering the tools of transformation we can create new ways of leading ourself and others.

And break through to new possibilities.

“ Shawn is one of the most compassionate and capable executive coaches I’ve had the pleasure to work with. He effortlessly combines his depth of experience in the business world with intuitive and pragmatic coaching techniques that give me a roadmap for self improvement. ”

- Adam Silverman

“ The space that Shawn has held for me has helped me gain clarity. And with this clarity I'm able to move forward, while earlier I was going in circles. The real power in his approach lies in gently guiding the client to find their "source of light" for themselves. This has the dual reward of discovering this source and empowering one's sense of self. I'm grateful for that. It has been an extremely pleasant surprise! ”

Shawn Parrotte

Hi! I'm Shawn. Here to be a guide on your journey.

My career began as a working musician in upstate New York and transformed into a marketing career at tech start ups in San Francisco and NYC. Leading jazz bands to leading growth teams.

I credit a lifelong study of psychology, philosophy, and spirituality along with a healthy amount of courage for the shifts I've made in my life. Stepping into a coaching role felt like a natural evolution of my own journey.

In 2024 I graduated from Newfield Network, one of the first and most prestigious coaching schools in the world. I’m currently pursuing ACC certification from the International Coaching Federation.

Questions & Answers

Who do you work with?

I work with leaders, creatives, entrepreneurs, knowledge workers, and seekers who want to learn the skills to take bold, creative action in pursuit of their goals.

What do you help with?

I help you to uncover, reflect, and act on the forces that influence the results in your professional and personal lives. Along the way I’ll share practices and tools that facilitate self-mastery, generate new possibilities, and inspire courage.

What is Creative Leadership?

Leadership is committing to a course of action in pursuit of a desired outcome for yourself or with a group. Creative leadership seeks innovative actions for innovative outcomes through interacting with yourself and others in new ways.

For me Creative Leadership is the combination of Agency, Awareness, Artistry, and Accountability to invite and express the greatest potential for yourself and the communities you serve.

How does coaching work?

Coaching is a partnership in service of achieving your goals. That means you get to participate in creating the kind of coaching that works for you.

During our introductory and onboarding calls we’ll discuss what prompted you to seek out a coach, what your expectations are for coaching, and what kind of support you’re hoping to receive during the coaching partnership. From there we’ll co-create options that best serve you and your goals.

Typically we’ll meet weekly or bi-weekly to focus on an area of your choice with the aim of discovering what shifts are available for you in order to take new actions and get new results.

What happens in a coaching call?

Each call is unique and depends on what is most relevant for you at that moment. Your primary responsibility as a client is to take ownership of your development and to share authentically which areas of focus would create meaningful progress for you.

From there we’ll join together in asking powerful questions that shine a light on the situation, the context from which it emerged, how you currently participate in it, and how to relate to it in new and empowering ways. Then we’ll collaborate on a plan of action and measure progress.

The most transformative coaching happens inside a client. By observing the stories we tell ourselves, the beliefs that limit our actions, the emotions we’re resisting, and the many other ways we get in our own way, we can experiment and practice new ways of being that can manifest profound results.

What if I don’t know what I want?

Not knowing what you want is a perfect time to work with a coach! Stepping into the unknown is a powerful practice. And being present with unanswered questions can generate many self-discoveries.

Through coaching you can rediscover your interests, values, and/or vision; play without the need for perfection; and find meaning in unexpected places.

What are your credentials?

I graduated from the Newfield Network’s Coaching for Personal and Professional Mastery program in 2024 and am currently working towards getting certified by the International Coaching Federation. Newfield’s immersive yearlong program is grounded in the practical application of philosophy and language in relating to self and others.

In addition to coaching training, I have a background working in startups, in music, and have a long history of practicing meditation and the dharma. I’m happy to share more about my journey with you if you’re curious.

Is coaching like therapy?

There are ways that coaching and therapy are similar. For example, the emphasis on deep listening and asking powerful questions. But the main difference is that coaching does not aim to diagnose you or prescribe interventions.

If you’re in a situation where you’re not able to take care of yourself or you notice patterns of self-harming behavior, including excessive negative self-talk, then a professional therapist is likely a better option for you.

Coaching is best for situations where things are “okay” or even “good” but you know deep down that things could be “great” and you want a partner to ensure you get there.

The practice of coaching is founded on the belief that only you can know which direction is right for you, but that it requires relating honestly with who you are in this moment and acting from a place of curiosity and courage.

Is coaching just giving advice?

Not at all! While coaches do have domain expertise, the coaching process encourages you to face the challenge of discovering what you need for yourself. In some cases, after fully engaging with the task, a coach can offer their perspective.

That doesn’t mean a coach is without tools, frameworks, resources, and research that can benefit you and your situation. The question becomes: what’s the real task in front of you? And will all those things become a clever distraction from that?

We can easily lose touch with our own inner wisdom when there’s an endless amount of information, opinions, and distractions at our fingertips. The art of coaching asks us to shake off all that unnecessary stuff, to look at ourselves honestly without flinching, and do the real work that brings out the greatest potential within.

Can coaching be covered by insurance?

Unfortunately, I do not work with any insurance providers. If coaching is or becomes cost prohibitive, we can collaborate on ways to work together. We can get creative!
